Health & Safety at BCM

Vaccines & Identification Are Required For Entry

Recently, New York City launched “Key to NYC” vaccination requirements, which apply to Brooklyn Children’s Museum staff and visitors. Effective December 15, 2021, all visitors ages 5 and older will be asked to present proof that they have had at least one dose of a valid COVID-19 vaccine. Effective December 27, 2021, visitors ages 12 and older will be required to provide proof of at least two COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Children under 5 are not affected, but must be accompanied by a vaccinated adult. Visitors over the age of 16 will need to present valid ID matching the name on their proof of vaccination. Visitors who cannot provide proof of their vaccination upon arrival will not be able to enter BCM. All visitors are required to wear masks while inside the Museum, regardless of their vaccination status. If you have questions regarding this new policy, please email us at hello@brooklynkids.org.

Acceptable methods for providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination include:

Valid ID includes your name and a photograph; for example:

  • School I.D. card
  • Driver’s license
  • Government I.D. card
  • IDNYC card
  • Passport

Book Your Tickets in Advance

Make sure you don’t miss a minute of fun by ordering your tickets online in advance! While a small number of tickets are available for purchase at the front desk, these sell out quickly.

Wear A Mask

All visitors 3 years old and older must wear a mask at BCM (face shields alone are not sufficient). If you or your child are unable to wear a mask, we regret that we cannot accommodate you at this time. We encourage you to check out our BCM + You activity page to experience our Museum fun at home. We look forward to welcoming you back to BCM’s site when these precautions are no longer necessary.

Keep Your Distance

Families are asked to stay 6 feet apart from one another and give each other space. Help us reduce crowds in exhibits by leaving bulky bags or other items at home, and by leaving your stroller in our stroller parking area. Coat check is not open at this time.

Be Kind

Museum staff members may ask you or your child to wear or adjust your mask, distance from others, or wait your turn for an exhibit or program. Be kind to them – it’s the Brooklyn way! If you see another family who is not following the rules, do not approach them. Ask one of our BCM staff members to help.

Eating & Drinking

BCM’s café is currently closed and eating is only allowed on the Museum’s roof terrace. There is no eating of any kind allowed in our exhibits. Water and other types of closed bottles are permitted.
